Flatout Suspension GR40R – Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato Long-Travel Coilovers

The Flatout Suspension GR40R for the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is a purpose-built long-travel suspension system designed to take the Sterrato's all-terrain capability even further. Developed specifically around the unique requirements of the Sterrato, this GR40R package combines increased ride height, substantial suspension travel, inverted dampers, and external reservoirs on all four corners.

Designed for up to a 2-inch increase in ride height, the Sterrato GR40R provides additional ground clearance while retaining the suspension travel and compliance needed for gravel, desert roads, rough pavement, and high-speed off-road use.

External reservoirs increase oil and gas volume to improve temperature management and maintain consistent damping during prolonged high-speed use. Combined with our inverted shock design and bypass piston valving, the GR40R delivers the impact resistance, heat capacity, and controlled compliance needed for a Lamborghini that isn't limited to pavement.

Sterrato-Specific Long-Travel Design

This is not a standard Huracán coilover adapted to fit the Sterrato. The GR40R uses Sterrato-specific extended-length dampers designed around increased ride height and usable suspension travel.

  • Front Damper Travel: 127 mm / 5.0 inches → Long-travel front dampers provide substantially more usable movement for rough surfaces, dips, and high-speed terrain.

  • Rear Damper Travel: 150 mm / 5.9 inches → Additional rear travel helps maintain tire contact and stability as the suspension works across uneven terrain.

  • Up to 2 Inches of Lift → Increased ground clearance for rough roads and off-pavement use without relying on simple spacer lifts.

  • 10-Inch Coil Springs with 25lb Helper Springs → Long springs provide the working range required for the increased damper travel while maintaining proper spring control throughout suspension movement.

Sterrato-Specific Spring Rates

The Huracán Sterrato's suspension needs are very different from those of a conventional lowered or track-focused Huracán. More spring rate is not necessarily better when the goal is maintaining tire contact, absorbing rough terrain, and allowing the suspension to use its available travel.

Our standard Sterrato GR40R configuration uses 450 lb/in front and 600 lb/in rear 10-inch springs with helper springs. The staggered rates account for the Huracán's rear-biased weight distribution while providing enough support for the increased ride height and available compression travel.

The 450F / 600R combination is intentionally selected to balance body control with off-road compliance. Rather than using excessively stiff springs to control large impacts, the GR40R allows the dampers, increased travel, and valving to do the work. The result is better mechanical grip and a suspension that can absorb broken pavement, gravel, washboard, and desert terrain without sacrificing the high-speed stability expected from the Sterrato.

Key Features of the Sterrato GR40R

  • External Reservoirs on All Four Shocks → Increased oil and gas volume for improved heat management and consistent damping during sustained high-speed use.

  • 127 mm / 5.0" Front Damper Travel → Increased usable movement for rough surfaces and off-road terrain.

  • 150 mm / 5.9" Rear Damper Travel → Long-travel rear design improves compliance and keeps the tires working over uneven terrain.

  • 0–2" Adjustable Ride Height → Set the vehicle near factory Sterrato height or increase ground clearance by up to approximately two inches.

  • 450F / 600R Spring Rates → Sterrato-specific rates selected to balance support, suspension travel, mechanical grip, and off-road compliance.

  • 10-Inch Coil Springs → Proper spring length for the extended-travel GR40R dampers.

  • Inverted Shock Design → Increased rigidity and strength for harsh impacts and demanding terrain.

  • Bypass Piston Valving → Compliance over smaller surface irregularities with progressively greater control during larger suspension events.

  • 1-Way Rebound Adjustment → Allows the driver to fine-tune suspension response for pavement, gravel, desert roads, and changing surface conditions.

  • Rebuildable Construction → Fully serviceable and tunable for long-term performance use.

  • Electroplated Shock Bodies → Durable corrosion-resistant finish designed for long-term service in demanding environments.

Built for the Huracán Sterrato

The Sterrato was designed to take the Huracán beyond perfect pavement. The GR40R builds on that concept with more ground clearance, more usable suspension travel, increased damper capacity, and spring rates specifically selected for long-travel performance.

Whether the car is being used on fast desert roads, gravel, broken pavement, or simply needs additional clearance without turning the Sterrato into an overly stiff track car, the GR40R is designed to preserve the compliance that makes a long-travel suspension work while adding the control required at Huracán speeds.
