Rear Shock Lower Eye Widths

The two sizes used are:

Lower Eye Width Typical Bolt Size Notes
36 mm (≈1.50 in) M17 Earlier / narrower mount version
44 mm (≈1.75 in) M19 Later / wider mount version

Why There Are Two

Mazda uses the same basic torsion-beam rear suspension architecture across the Mazda3, CX-30, and CX-50 platform family. During production Mazda revised the rear shock clevis spacing and bolt size, which resulted in two different lower eye widths.

Typically the change corresponds to:

  • Narrower 36mm eye → earlier production shocks

  • Wider 44mm eye → later production / updated beam mounts

Flatout Suspension warrants that the product will perform substantially in accordance with the specifications set forth in the documentation provided with it. The above express warranties are made for a period of the lesser of 12,000 miles or 36 months from the date the product is installed in your vehicle.
